Sridatta Viswanath, also known as Sri, has been the Chief Technology Officer at Groupon, Inc., since October 2014 and has been its Senior Vice President of Engineering since October 16, 2015. Mr. Viswanath served as its Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations since April 9, 2013. Mr. Viswanath served as the Vice President of Engineering at Ning, Inc. and managed the application development, platform engineering, and operations teams responsible for innovating and scaling the Ning Platform. He joined Groupon from VMWare, where he served as Vice President of Research and Development for Mobile Computing. He served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Glam Media and General Manager of its publisher products group. Prior to Ning, Mr. Viswanath served engineering leadership roles at Sun Microsystems. He also served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Ning, Inc., and was instrumental in that Ning`s acquisition by Glam. He served at Sun Microsystems where he led development of a number of very successful open-source and business-to-business products. At Sun, he managed the development team responsible for the GlassFish v2 Application Server product. Mr. Viswanath holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Clemson and a Management degree from Stanford Business School.
