Montmorency County sits in the northeastern portion of Michigan`s lower peninsula, bounded on the east by Alpena County, on the north by Presque Isle County, on the west by Otsego County and on the the south by Oscoda County. There are 352, 019 acres in the county or 547.6 square miles of land. With 248 lakes and reservoirs, the county has 14.8 square miles of water surface. Eighty-six percent of the land has forest cover with the economy being supported by forestry and agricultural industries as well as tourism and several manufacturing plants. Montmorency County`s estimated population was 10,478 in 2006.
The Hamilton County Sheriff`s Office (HCSO) was created on October 25, 1819 when the County of Hamilton was established. With a population of over 336,000, Hamilton is the fourth-most populous county in Tennessee. Our county was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. As the 4th largest Sheriff`s Office in Tennessee, our operations include approximately 183 certified deputies, 161 sworn deputies, and 90 civilian staff personnel. In addition to our traditional patrol and corrections operations, our agency boasts numerous specialty divisions and units to include, but certainly not limited to SWAT, K-9, Hostage Negotiation, Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drones), Marine Patrol, Forensic Divers, Criminal Investigations, CBRNE, Forensics, Honor Guard, Fleet Management, School Resource Officers, Traffic, Public Relations, and Property and Evidence. The Indiana University Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency which serves the needs of the Indiana University campuses. The IU Police Department in Bloomington employs 45 full-time sworn police officers as well as several part-time police officers and student cadets. The full and part-time police officers are all fully certified as law enforcement officers by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board. The Indiana University Police Department serves the Bloomington university community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
