The Board operates 97 elementary schools and 21 secondary schools in the 12 municipalities that make up the Niagara Region. We are proud to serve over 38,000 students (24,600 elementary and 14,850 secondary) each year. The DSBN is governed by a Board of 11 elected trustees
About the Person
Dino Miele is the Chief Information Officer at the District School Board of Niagara. He is a seasoned senior manager with C.E.T. designations as well as a M.Ed and 30 years’ experience in all facets of Information Technology including data centers, networks and telecommunications in the K-12 and higher education sector. In collaboration with other I.T. team managers and administrators, he develops strategic and operational technology plans in support of the academic and business services of the board. He also brings with him a strong track record in developing client focused service and building successful customer and vendor relationships. His vision is to build scalability, continuity and capacity with technology “for learning” in today’s 21st century classrooms. His research interests include preparing teachers to effectively utilize technology as one of the many strategies in improving student achievement, as well as the understanding the influence digital assets and media have on teaching and learning. Dino also understands how the explosion of mobile, social, cloud and information are rapidly re-shaping how CIO’s and Senior IT leaders lead in the new Digital World. These are transformative forces that need to be understood and are capable of re-shaping how organizations work and do.
