New York, NY-based Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest has announced the Resignation of Valarie Williams as Chief Information Officer
Our Vision: Building a world where all communities have full access to innovative, high-quality, affordable, evidence-based sexual and reproductive health services, which will always include abortion, whenever, wherever, and however they are needed. Our Mission: PPGNY is a leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services and information, a fierce advocate, and a committed partner to advance equity and improve health outcomes for all. Our services: Planned Parenthood of Greater New York provides sexual and reproductive health care to everyone, regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, immigration status, or ability to pay. We operate 30 health centers across New York state, from Brooklyn to Ithaca.
The foundation of Valarie Williams' successful career is her ability to lead and adapt to change. She has never been afraid to join a company in a different business from her previous experiences, as she has seamlessly transitioned from the worlds of finance, telecom, automotive marketing, and health care. In her role as vice president/information technology/CIO for Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, Williams knows that finding the best overall solutions to support the nonprofit agency is the key to the organization's success - not just creating technology for technology's sake. In addition to overseeing the Information Technology department, Williams is also responsible for managing the Contact Center, which handles all incoming calls for appointments. Planned Parenthood provided nearly 320,000 patient visits in San Diego and Riverside counties in 2011, making this a massive day-to-day undertaking. She has successfully reduced the ""call abandon"" rate from 16 percent to 6 percent, which helps serve patients more efficiently. Williams is also committed to heath care outside of her Planned Parenthood responsibilities. She serves on the California State University San Marcos' Healthcare IT Advisory Board - working to design a relevant health care IT program for both the bachelor's and master's degree levels. She is also a much sought-after speaker, representing a voice frequently missing from the health care conversation - the viewpoint from a community clinic and safety-net health care provider. Williams is active in the Athena Forum for Executive Women and serves on its Technology Affinity Group.
