Town Hall in Newington CT - Newington was part of the Town of Wethersfield until 1871. Early names for the area were “Pipestave Swamp,” then “Cow Plain,” and later, “West Farms.” These reflected its use first as a source of staves for making “pipes” (large sized barrels) used in colonial trade, then a pasture for cattle, and eventually, the new farms taken up by descendants of early Wethersfield settlers who had been given grants on the western frontier of their riverside town. By 1721 there were enough new farmers on these grants to request that the General Assembly of the Colony of Connecticut give them the name “Newington.”
The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and managed network services to more than 1,200 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery, and security. Managed network services include the states wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring, and conferencing services. Both categories of services are provided as shared services through a public-private partnership called the Georgia Enterprise Technology Services (GETS) program. A Multisourcing Service Integrator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the delivery of services by multiple providers. GTA is responsible for service provider oversight and management as well as governance.
The Hamilton County Sheriff`s Office (HCSO) was created on October 25, 1819 when the County of Hamilton was established. With a population of over 336,000, Hamilton is the fourth-most populous county in Tennessee. Our county was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. As the 4th largest Sheriff`s Office in Tennessee, our operations include approximately 183 certified deputies, 161 sworn deputies, and 90 civilian staff personnel. For two hundred years the men and women of the Hamilton County Sheriff`s Office have provided consistent law enforcement operations throughout Hamilton County. From a bygone era of mounted deputies on horseback crisscrossing wagon trails to the use of modern technology and state-of-the-art vehicles, our deputies continue to honor our agency`s rich history and uphold the legacy and traditions of those who have proudly served before us.
