Warm Springs Medical Center

Founded in 1957 as Meriwether Memorial Hospital, the original 38-bed facility provided health care services to families in Meriwether County. In 1996, Georgia Baptist leased the facility from Meriwether County with the goal of improving health care in rural communities. Georgia Baptist began an aggressive campaign to improve the facility. Over 12 million dollars were invested into the facility to add new radiology suites, a mammography suite, CT scanner, Emergency Department, MRI service, laboratory, lobby, chapel, operating room, labor and delivery suites, endoscopy suite, and DEXA scanner. Completed in 2001, these improvements have made Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital and Nursing Home one of the finest community health care facilities in the state. On July 19, 2004 Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital changed its name to Warm Springs Medical Center, and was managed by Quorum Health Resources, LLC. On July 19, 2007 Warm Springs Medical Center opted out of the management contract with Quorum Health Resources, and once again became a self-sufficient, Hospital Authority managed facility. In November of 2007, Warm Springs Medical Center joined forces with Georgia Rehabilitation Center in Newnan, GA to establish the Georgia Rehabilitation and Imaging of Warm Springs Medical Center, located at the Summit Healthplex on Bullsboro Drive in Newnan, GA. Warm Spring Medical Center’s good neighbor involvement also helped improve the quality of life for area residents. The hospital is a member of the Meriwether County Interagency Council/Family Connection, which fosters collaboration between community groups and helps prevent duplication of services. As a member of the council, the hospital participated in many joint projects and grant requests to bring useful resources into the community. One former program, in partnership with the March of Dimes, provided a perinatal van to transport pregnant women and mothers with newborn infants. Another former program was the hospital’s alliance with the county school system to provide a school nurse, healthcare education and services to children in the community. Playground equipment was provided by the hospital to encourage safe play environments. Warm Springs Medical Center is not just a hospital--It’s part of the community.
