About the Person

Mike Farese is Entropic's chief technology officer. As CTO, Mike leverages nearly 35-years of technical, engineering and business management experience to help guide Entropic’s advanced technology and platform architecture roadmaps, and collaborate with academic and industry standards bodies to drive innovation deeper into the connected home entertainment market. Mike joined Entropic in 2010 as the Senior Vice President of Global Engineering and Operations. In 2012, Mike focused his attentions on expanding the worldwide engineering organization when Entropic grew its product development team with two acquisitions. During his time with the Company, Mike has made a number of significant contributions, having developed and introduced the industry’s first Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) 2.0 system solution, the industry’s first digital Channel Stacking Switch, Entropic’s first integrated System-on-a-Chip plus MoCA 2.0 product and built a global software team that spearhead many key innovations, including Entropic’s Open RDK (reference design kit) platform. Prior to his role with Entropic, Mike held several executive management positions, including: CEO at Bitwave Semiconductor, which developed programmable RFIC transceiver platforms for mobile applications; President and CEO at WJ Communications, a leading provider of semiconductors; President and CEO at Tropian, a provider of cellular ASICs; and, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Palm, Inc. He also held executive positions at Motorola, Nokia and Ericsson. Mike holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
