College Station, TX-based Texas A and M University System has Appointed Mark Stone as Chief Information Officer
The Texas A&M University System is one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a budget of $4.55 billion. Through a statewide network of 11 universities and seven state agencies, the Texas A&M System educates more than 152,000 students and makes more than 22 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs each year. System-wide, research and development expenditures exceeded $972 million in FY 2016 and helped drive the state`s economy.
Mark Stone joined Texas A and M University System as Chief Information officer in 2013. He is responsible for IT strategy development and implementation throughout the A&M System. As the CIO, Stone collaborates with technology as well as non-technology leaders to ensure A&M System’s systems support goals, objectives, policies, procedures and initiatives as specified by the chancellor. Stone served Safety-Kleen from 2009—2013 as senior vice president and chief information officer. Stone served as senior vice president and chief information officer of Zale Corporation from 2005—2009. He was with Zale Corporation for 14 years and worked in IT, financial planning and analysis, merchandise planning, database marketing, and distribution. Prior to working at Zale Corporation, Stone served as the director of financial operations for the Resolution Trust Corporation. He is a certified public accountant. He holds a BBA in accounting from Baylor University and a master’s in divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary.
