About the Person

Mark T. Carges served as an Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Global Products - Marketplaces at eBay Inc. from September 2009 to September 2014. Mr. Carges served as Senior Vice President of Technology of eBay Inc. He served as the Executive Vice President of Business Interaction Division of BEA Systems Inc. since November 17, 2005. He served as Chief Technology Officer of Marketplaces of eBay Inc. and served as its Senior Vice President of Global Platform Development since September 2008. Mr. Carges is responsible for accelerating eBay's company-wide platform innovation and further opening eBay's platform to outside developers to enhance the customer experience and enable new business opportunities. He served as the Chief Technology Officer of BEA Systems Inc., a holding company of Plumtree Software, Inc. from August 2004 to October 2005 and Executive Vice President of Strategic Global Accounts from January 2003 to August 2004. He served as General Manager for the Business Interaction Division of BEA Systems. Mr. Carges led the Enterprise Framework Division responsible for its platform product lines, including BEA WebLogic Integration, BEA WebLogic Workshop, BEA WebLogic Portal and BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic. He is one of the original architects of its Tuxedo product. He joined BEA Systems Inc. in February 1996 after designing and developing early versions of Tuxedo at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Unix System Laboratories and Novell. He serves as a Director of Magnet Systems, Inc. and Corticon Technologies, Inc. He has been a Director of Splunk, Inc. since September 2014 and Rally Software Development Corp. since November 2011. Mr. Carges holds a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and M.S. degree in Computer Science from New York University.
