THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is a unique opportunity to lead the end to end function of the entire Engineering and Product groups for StubHub. Reporting into the President, StubHub, the CTO will drive the technical strategy and execution that helps StubHub sustain its current ticketing business while expanding its reach outside tickets into an event landscape across multiple geographies and emerging markets. StubHub operates in several countries and seeks to continue to evolve as a global technology platform. The largest drivers for future growth are likely to come from global expansion, mobility, and social commerce.
The CTO will have a keen commercial understanding of product and technology. They should be experienced in and passionate about an environment where technology is the key value driver for the business. The right individual will be experienced in scaling large technology teams and creating the technical architecture and infrastructure to deliver a great customer experience across a broad customer base. The CTO will partner closely with the rest of the leadership team, within and outside the organization, to co-create the product and technology strategy, people strategy and delivery plans to realize the potential of our business.
This responsibility includes the planning, development, and implementation of StubHub`s application architecture, technology stack and product experience on the various platforms including desktop, mobile and native applications (iOS and Android). The person will support various StubHub business units, together with related software applications, and identifying and integrating product and technology advancements that support the organization`s delivery of services and products.

Organization
Attract, retain, engage and develop world class engineering capability. Lead, coach, develop and inspire technology leaders and individual contributors across the organization.
Drive a technology organization in the areas of globalization, mobile and social.
Ensure there is a fan-centric culture and a focus on accountability and performance, with clear line of sight between organization strategy and individual goals.
Ability and experience leading a large team through an agile transformation.
Liaise with counterparts across the leadership team to leverage existing technology components as applicable. As a member of the leadership team, actively contribute to the development of business strategy, product strategy and delivery plans.
Technology Strategy
Define the technology strategy that supports the overall business strategy.
Develop objectives and drive overall technology strategy which takes into consideration business objectives, product strategy, competitive landscape, customer needs, and budget constraints.
Work collaboratively with the business, marketing, engineering and operations team to present a cohesive technology strategy and roadmap.
Designs develop and implement the necessary technology migration plans for the company upgrading technology to give advantage to the business.
Research and Development
Provide leadership for the research and development of new products/projects. Apply advanced expertise as a consultant in the development of new principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Develop, co-ordinates and drive execution with the disciplines and plans associated with a project to ensure successful accomplishment of program and technical objectives.
Product Development
Work with engineering and product management to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.
Estimate engineering effort; plan implementation, and rollout system changes.
Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.
Segment and design system layers to support componentized and layered application development, including user interface, business functionality, and database access.
Review external technologies and products for their applicability to specific product / system requirements. Be technology agnostic and able to compare various solutions and select the one most appropriate given architectural / design and time-to-market constraints. Launch product / site enhancements in an efficient and effective manner.
Quality Assurance
Work with various teams to insure the highest standard in quality assurance and release management. Implement policy, tools teams and vendors required to achieve the highest quality standards in technology.
