Founded in 1995 in San Jose, Calif ,connects millions of buyers and sellers globally on a daily basis through Ebay, the world`s largest online marketplace, and PayPal, which enables individuals and businesses to securely, easily and quickly send and receive online payments. We also reach millions through specialized marketplaces such as StubHub, the world`s largest ticket marketplace, and Ebay classifieds sites, which together have a presence in more than 1,000 cities around the world.
Mark joined the eBay Inc. leadership team in September 2008, overseeing eBay Inc.’s platform strategy, as well as having overall responsibility for technology, software development and site operations for eBay.com. Prior to joining eBay Inc., Mark was executive vice president, products and general manager, for the Business Interaction Division at BEA Systems, a provider of enterprise application infrastructure software which was acquired by Oracle in April 2008. During more than a decade at BEA, Mark held a variety of senior technology leadership roles, including Chief Technology Officer. Mark began his career at Bell Labs as one of the original architects of Tuxedo, software for constructing highly scalable transaction processing applications. Prior to BEA, he designed and developed early versions of Tuxedo at Bell Labs, Unix System Labs and Novell. Mark holds a BA in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and an MS degree in Computer Science from New York University. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Rally Software and Magnet Systems.
