About the Person

Kevin Timmons joined CyrusOne in October 2011 as Chief Technology Officer. In this role he is responsible for defining and sharing the technology roadmap for the company. He is also responsible for the site selection, design, and construction of CyrusOne's worldwide data center assets. Prior to CyrusOne, he led Microsoft's global data center team as GM, Data Center Services. In his 2 years at Microsoft he fundamentally changed the way that the company designed, developed, and operated of its worldwide data center assets. Under his leadership, Microsoft opened 4 of the world's largest data centers. These facilities were recognized for their innovation and industry-leading cost performance. Previously Kevin held several positions within the Operations team at Yahoo!. He originally joined Yahoo! via the GeoCities acquisition in September 1999 as Director of Operations. He was then promoted to Senior Director in August 2000, and assumed the role of Vice President in February 2006. Primary responsibilities included management of the global production operations team, including the operation of all customer-facing networks, data centers and supporting infrastructure. Prior to that, he was the fourth employee at GeoCities, which was acquired by Yahoo! for $4.6 billion in May 1999. Kevin's background also includes over 10 years' experience in real-time embedded systems software development with several leading aerospace firms such as Lockheed and Marconi Dynamics. He was instrumental in the development of the avionics display systems for the YF-22 fighter program, which was later selected by the Air Force as their next generation fighter platform as the F-22 Raptor. Kevin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Engineering Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign.
