Joe Barrus brings with him deep experience in driving enterprise technology strategy and innovation within the educational sector. Barrus has more than 27 years of experience in technology development and innovation management. In his prior role as the chief Enterprise Architect at Bridgepoint Education, he lead a team of enterprise architects guiding the standardization and execution of technology strategy and innovative product development. In addition he developed and ran Bridgepoint's corporate innovation management program which was instrumental in surfacing the most promising ideas for prioritized execution. Prior to joining Bridgepoint, Mr. Barrus served as Enterprise Architect for Provide Commerce, a floral and gifting e-commerce leader where he was responsible for architecting their patented e-commerce and logistics platform for optimized date-driven product delivery. Mr. Barrus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University and a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School. With expected rapid growth in the near term, San Diego Global Knowledge University will require strong leadership overseeing technology strategy and the appointment of Mr. Barrus as Chief Technology Officer is an essential step in ensuring that effective and appropriate technology solutions are aligned with that growth.
