Stephen Orban serves as the chief information officer and global head of technology. He assumed this role in February 2013 and is charged with developing and delivering best-in-class digital products to all Dow Jones customers. Mr. Orban’s team supports and enhances existing products such as WSJ.com, Barrons.com, MarketWatch, Factiva and Dow Jones Newswires while creating a breeding ground for innovative solutions that will poise Dow Jones for the future and attract the brightest technical talent in the industry. In June 2012, Mr. Orban joined Dow Jones as part of the Research and Development group. In that role, he helped push the strategy for public cloud adoption to create an environment where the company could experiment with a minimal investment. He also laid the groundwork for the Dow Jones chat platform. Prior to joining Dow Jones, Mr. Orban spent 12 years at Bloomberg LP in various roles: he managed several development and product teams; was the co-founder and CTO for Bloomberg Sports; and he created the vision and strategy for gaining efficiencies across the company’s growing number of web businesses. Stephen holds a B.S. in computer science from SUNY Fredonia where he graduated at the top of his class in 2001.
