General Electric is the worlds Digital Industrial Company, transforming industry with software-defined machines and solutions that are connected, responsive and predictive. GE is organized around a global exchange of knowledge, the GE Store, through which each business shares and accesses the same technology, markets, structure and intellect. Each invention further fuels innovation and application across our industrial sectors. With people, services, technology and scale, GE delivers better outcomes for customers by speaking the language of industry.
Hank Zupnick is Chief Information Officer of GE Real Estate. In this position, his focus is to unlock the power of technology to help drive global growth. When Hank joined the Real Estate in 2000, the business was still overwhelmingly dependent on expensive, time-consuming and error-prone manual processing. Under his leadership, and with strong support and partnership with Real Estate’s business leaders, Real Estate IT has applied technology strategically to improve productivity, make investment decisions more effectively, better manage transaction risks and improve controllership and compliance. These technology innovations have also allowed to Real Estate to drive a massive growth in business volume and profitability without a significant increase in non-customer facing staff, providing significant, ongoing cost savings. GE Real Estate is now recognized throughout GE and throughout the Commercial Real Estate industry as a leader in the strategic use of technology to operate more efficiently, responsively and profitably. Examples of Real Estate’s successful strategic investments in technology include the automation of the deal origination, approval and closing processes, which has shortened the transaction cycle dramatically, allowing Real Estate to respond faster and more accurately to client requests; the strengthening of Real Estate’s controllership capabilities by implementing worldwide financial control systems; and creation of a comprehensive business intelligence system that enables Real Estate to more accurately assess marketplace conditions and manage portfolio risks. Before taking his current position, Hank held IT leadership positions at other GE financial businesses in the United States and Europe, including CIO, GE Capital Bank Austria and CIO, Service Bank, GE's German consumer finance business. A recognized leader in the global applications of information technology, Hank also worked in senior positions with Citibank and started his career at Bankers Trust Company, now part of Deutsche Bank. Hank received both his MBA and BA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania
