Mc Lean, VA-based Leidos has Appointed Gulu Gambhir as Chief Technology Officer
Leidos is a science and technology solutions leader working to address some of the world`s toughest challenges in national security, health, and engineering. The Company`s 23,000 employees support vital missions for our government and the commercial sector, develop innovative solutions to drive better outcomes, and defend our Nation`s digital and physical infrastructure from `new world` threats. Leidos is headquartered in Reston, Va. and had approximately $6 billion in revenues for fiscal year 2013, on a pro forma basis, following the spin-off of the company`s technical, engineering and enterprise IT business on Sept. 27, 2013. Miner holds a B.S. in both Computer Science and Mathematics from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served in the Air Force for 10 years, and served another 14 years in the Air Force Reserves where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. While on active duty, he earned an M.S. in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Miner is also a graduate of the University of Virginia Darden Business School "The Executive Program".
Gulu Gambhir was previously the National Security Sector (NSS) CTO and acting Leidos CTO. During his four years as a sector CTO, Gambhir was instrumental in identifying and defining technology priorities that respond to the most critical needs of national security community customers, in partnership with corporate and group leaders and staff. He aligned the internal research and development program with business growth opportunities, development of capabilities for use by multiple markets, and use of emerging technologies with the potential to help customers achieve their missions. Prior to joining SAIC in 2009, Gambhir served as director of Northrop Grumman's Science and Technology Operating Unit of TASC, holding a variety of line, program management, and technical leadership roles. Previously, he worked at Space Applications Corporation and COMSAT Laboratories. Gambhir holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science in operations research, and a Doctor of Science in systems engineering from The George Washington University. Since 1998, he has taught three dozen semester-length engineering courses as a professorial lecturer in The George Washington University's School of Engineering and Applied Science to master's and doctoral students. He is a current member of the AFCEA Technology Committee and contributes his time and expertise to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education, serving as a member of the foundation board of VirginiaFIRST and on the advisory board of the Children's Science Center.
