Warrenton , VA-based Fauquier Health System has Appointed Donna Staton as Chief Information Officer.
Fauquier Health System owns and operates hospitals, rehabilitation and nursing centers, and senior living facilities. It offers assisted living; physical, speech, and occupational therapy; wound care; and home healthcare services. Additionally, the company provides diagnosis, treatment, and surgeries focusing on oncological, cardiopulmonary, vascular, gastroenterological, radiological, orthopedic, and pediatric diseases. It also operates pharmacies. The company was founded in 1954 and is based in Warrenton, Virginia.
Donna Staton came on board as Chief Information Officer of Fauquier Health System, an 86-bed acute care community hospital, when JCAHO introduced the new medication reconciliation standard of January 2006. Staton, who had never worked in a hospital setting before, brought a fresh pair of eyes and an innovative approach to a problem that had eluded many other long-time CIOs. It was the proving ground for Staton. Her novel approach, coupled with keen analytic skills led her to partner with a vendor in pursuit of a new IT product for medication reconciliation. Staton came from a software development background. She previously worked as Program Manager at IMC from 1995 – 2005. Donna is the recipient of HCI Innovator Award in Healthcare Informatics in 2008. She earned her BS and MS degree in Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
