Waterloo, ON-based University of Waterloo has appointed David Wallace as Chief Information Officer.

David Wallace was most recently the CIO at the City of Toronto, the first to hold that position. He oversaw approximately $500 million in current and future projects and approximately 700 staff members supporting the technology infrastructure operation at the city. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree from Ryerson University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto. He began his career at Gulf Canada before joining the Ontario government, where he worked for 20 years in roles of increasing responsibility. He left that position to join Chartwell IRM Inc. (now part of KPMG) as vice-president, national public sector program. In that position, he was responsible for leading information management, strategy and IT initiatives at three levels of government.
