Mexico, NY-based The Mexico School District Appointed Anna Richardson as Director of Technology

 

About the Company

Mexico Academy and Central Schools covers an area of approximately 100 square miles and includes the towns of Hastings, New Haven, Mexico, Palermo, Parish, Richland, Scriba and Volney. Mexico Central Schools serves approximately 2,000 students housed in five buildings: Mexico High School, grades 9-12 (650 students); Mexico Middle School, grades 5-8 (600 students); and Mexico Elementary, New Haven Elementary and Palermo Elementary, grades K-4 house a total of approximately 750 students for the three elementary schools. In addition, the district has a Universal Pre-K program in all of the elementary buildings, serving about 100 students. Significant features of the high school include comprehensive programs in all core subject areas, along with foreign language instruction in French, German and Spanish. Career and technical courses, access to CiTi BOCES Career and Technical Programs and New Visions programs in Education, Public Justice and Allied Health are also offered. In addition, programs are available in the study of music, art, health and Marine Corps Junior ROTC. Advanced Placement courses are available in Calculus, U.S. History, World History, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The High School also offers Project Lead the Way courses in Engineering. There are a variety of advanced and college courses offerings in core areas and the humanities, including courses taught by MACS teachers, distance learning classes, or online college courses from Onondaga and Cayuga community colleges. The middle school operates on a block schedule. Students are offered extra help during 10th period. Credit-bearing courses in Studio Art, Foreign Language, Algebra, and Biology provide advanced opportunities for our students. At the elementary level, each building features the Leader in Me program, which helps students learn how to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, be considerate of others, express their viewpoint persuasively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, and live a balanced life. In short, The Leader in Me helps students develop the skills and self-confidence they need to lead their lives and succeed in school and beyond.
