About the Person

Ananthan Thandri is Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Mentor Graphics. In his role, he oversees Global IT, License and Install of Mentor products, Enterprise Security, and Customer Enablement. Since  joining  the  company in 2007, Thandri’s mission has been to transform Mentor’s IT organization from “order taker” to innovative, proactive technology and service provider. His forward-looking, customer  service-based approach is complemented by an overall IT spend reduction totaling millions of dollars. Under Thandri’s leadership Mentor is in the process of consolidating 35 different datacenters into two state-of-the-art, highly energy efficient datacenters in Oregon and in Shannon, Ireland. This initiative focuses on providing highly available, scalable engineering resources to support Mentor’s global engineering workforce, while increasing efficiencies and reducing overall costs. He has also created ahead-of-the-curve strategies to help employees maximize their work day. These include  deploying enterprise social networking and customer collaboration tools, and developing a secure mobile application store complete with employee-developed productivity applications. Thandri was instrumental in building the Customer Enablement team whose main objective is to help Mentor customers connect securely with Mentor Engineers around the world to work on joint projects, do remote debug and provide value added service.  Along with this, Thandri’s team helps Mentor customers optimize their EDA environment to improve performance. Previous to Mentor, Thandri served as vice president of Information Technology for Oracle Corporation. Through his leadership, Oracle’s IT organization supported software development needs for more than 10,000  software engineers working in the Server Technologies division. Prior to Oracle, Thandri spent 11 years with Cadence Design Systems, ultimately serving as vice president of Information Technology. Various additional  career  technical leadership positions prepared him for these roles. Thandri stays active in his local Portland, Ore., community through his participation in the Portland CIO Alliance, governing body of the CIO Executive Summit and Portland CIO Forum. He also participates in CIO panels locally and nationally, including several CIO advisory councils. His educational credits include a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Madras, India, and an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California.
