Piscataway, NJ-based Wireless Power Consortium has Appointed Yongcheol Park as Chief Technology Officer
Established in December 2008, the Wireless Power Consortium`s mission is to establish Qi as the global standard for wirelessly charging electronic products. The more than 210 members of WPC include industry leaders in mobile phones, consumer electronics, batteries, semiconductors, components, wireless power technology and infrastructure such as wireless operators, furniture and automotive parts companies. Qi products are available in the United States, Asia Pacific, and Europe.
In this position, Yongcheol Park will be responsible for creating and maintaining all of the WPC specification roadmaps and ensuring that new technology developments are leveraged by the various working groups. He will also be the chairperson of the joint chairs of the Low Power Work Group, Medium Power Work Group, Kitchen Working Group, Resonance Task Force and Compliance and Compatibility Test Group. Park received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He has been with LG Electronics since 1994, and prior to his work with the WPC, Park played active roles in the DVD and Blu-ray standards development groups.
