The mission of the Texas Legislative Council is to provide professional, nonpartisan service and support to the Texas Legislature and legislative agencies. In every area of responsibility, we strive for quality and efficiency. The council is a nonpartisan legislative agency that serves as a source of impartial services, research, and information to the legislative branch. It employs professional, administrative, and technical staff to assist legislators in drafting proposed legislation and in obtaining information on specific legislative issues and on matters affecting the general welfare of the state. Council staff also handle the printing, processing, and distribution of legislative documents and provide computer support to the legislature and all of the other legislative agencies. Under general direction of its executive director and the leadership team, the council staff is organized into five divisions: administration, legal, research, information systems, and document production.

First settled in the 1600′s, it was not until March 3rd, 1894 that it became the Incorporated Village of Amityville. In its infancy, the “friendly bay village”, as it has come to be known, was primarily a farming community that had strong ties to the fishing and boating industries. Salt hay was an important agri-product that was grown to feed livestock. But the farms and marine industries slowly gave way to the needs of summer visitors in search of comforts afforded by the cool breezes and beaches of the Great South Bay. Hotels, long since gone, supplanted the farms and marine industries that were located along the waterfront. The hordes of summer visitors that discovered early Amityville included stage and theater personalities, prominent members of society including businessmen, artists, writers and the so-called “rich and famous” Manhattanites. Although within the geographical boundaries of the Town of Babylon, residents of the Village enjoy the benefits of a local police force, fire department and public works department. Residents are taxed by the Village for these services and by the Town and County for school taxes and other public services, such as trash removal. The Village is part of the Amityville Public School District. Within the Village boundaries, there are numerous parks and public spaces for all to enjoy. They include: • Village Triangle and Gazebo – on Broadway between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road • Avon Lake – landscaped area at East and West Lake Drives • Delano Nature Trail – Union Avenue, East of Broadway • Edmund W. Pearsall Park – natural rest area on Bayview Avenue • James A. Caples Memorial Park – Southern end of Bayview Avenue, with a playground, lighted softball fields, boat ramp • Peterkin Park – Oak Street, with playground, pond and footpath • 9/11 Memorial Park – center of the Village on Broadway • Nautical Park – Southeast corner of Merrick Road and Ocean Avenue, waterside park with benches, paths and band-shell • Maxine Postal Memorial Park – Unqua Place on the Great South Bay, in memory of Legislator Maxine Postal, 15th Leg. District • Amityville Beach Complex – Southern end of Bayview Avenue, with concession stand, beach and fishing pier
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Division has as its mission, such duties and assignments as have been given to it by the Arkansas General Assembly over the years. Those powers and duties can be briefly described as being the regulation, supervision and control of the manufacture, distribution and sale of all alcoholic beverages and the issuance of permits, and the regulation thereof, in pursuit of those duties and powers. The Alcoholic Beverage Control Administration Division receives applications, processes those applications and, depending upon whether the qualifications are met as established by law and by regulation, the permit may be issued to the applicant. In summary, the mission of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Division is to exercise supervision and control over a system which allows for the legal distribution of alcoholic beverage products in the State of Arkansas. The mission of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division is to enforce all Arkansas Code Annotated Laws of the State Control Act, cigarette, sales, Rules and Regulations adopted by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, and the training and assistance for all law enforcement agencies as well as other organizations regarding alcoholic beverages. In addition to enforcement, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division conducts investigations of those persons, businesses and organizations who apply for licenses under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act. The Alcoholic Beverage Control agents conduct inspections and report on permit applications in addition to the investigations of violations and apprehensions of violators. The agents also answer complaints and perform other special assignments; such as food stamp fraud when used to purchase alcoholic beverages. All Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement agents must be certified law enforcement officers.
