In 1991, California`s environmental authority was unified in a single Cabinet level agency—the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). Our mission is to restore, protect and enhance the environment, to ensure public health, environmental quality and economic vitality. We fulfill our mission by developing, implementing and enforcing the state`s environmental protection laws that regulate clean air, clean water, clean soil, safe pesticides and waste recycling and reduction. Our departments are at the forefront of environmental science, using cutting-edge research to shape the state`s environmental laws. The Office of the Secretary heads CalEPA and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of one office, two boards, and three departments dedicated to improving California`s environment: Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment Air Resources Board State Water Resources Control Board Department of Pesticide Regulation Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery Department of Toxic Substances Control

The mission of the Office of State Examiner, Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service, is to administer an effective, cost-efficient civil service system based on merit, efficiency, fitness, and length of service, consistent with the law and professional standards, for fire fighters and police officers in all municipalities in the State having populations of not less than 7,000 nor more than 500,000 inhabitants to which the law applies, and in all parish fire departments and fire protection districts regardless of population, in order to provide a continuity in quality of law enforcement and fire protection for the citizens of the State in rural and urban areas.
The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a national, independent and accountable prosecuting authority whose main objective is to prosecute federal offences and provide legal advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies. The PPSC prosecutes cases under federal statutes that are referred to it by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), other federal investigative agencies, and provincial and municipal police forces. These cases are related to environmental offences, money laundering, organized crime, tax evasion, terrorism, and regulatory offences. As a national organization, the PPSC has offices in every region across Canada, including in all three territories and its Headquarters is in Ottawa.
Kansas Office of Information Technology Services was created under Governor Sam Brownback. Previously, OITS was known as the Division of Information Systems and Communication (DISC) and was a division of the Kansas Department of Administration. OITS is an independent agency, but the two agencies still maintain close operational relationships in several areas because the transition was never completed.
