Saratoga Springs, NY-based Saratoga Hospital has Promoted to Todd Duthaler as Chief Medical Informatics Officer

Located three hours from NYC, Montreal, and Boston, and a half-hour from Albany, Saratoga Springs is a historic, close-knit family-centered community with lovely neighborhoods, fine restaurants, specialty shops and entertainment including thoroughbred horse racing and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Todd Duthaler has been named to the new position of chief medical informatics officer at Saratoga Hospital. He has been on staff as an emergency medicine physician at the hospital since 1999. As chief medical informatics officer, Dr. Duthaler plays a key role in helping the hospital and its clinical staff maximize the utilization of the electronic medical record to improve patient care and outcomes. Duthaler has extensive experience with computerized physician order entry. He was involved in the original design of the CPOE system for Saratoga Hospital’s Alfred Z. Solomon Emergency Center. He served as medical director of the Emergency Care Center at Nathan Littauer Hospital during its CPOE implementation and as a member of that hospital’s Physician Advisory Committee for EMR and CPOE. Dr. Duthaler has shared his knowledge of CPOE as a presenter and panelist at a Medical Users Software Exchange conference. A board-certified emergency medicine physician, Dr. Duthaler earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a residency at Delaware Valley Medical Center. He currently is enrolled in the American College of Physician Executives Health Information Technology Leadership Certificate Program.
