Caribou, ME-based Cary Medical Center Appointed Tim Conroy as Chief Information Officer
Cary Medical Center is a 65-bed acute care hospital in Caribou, Maine. Well known for its patient-centered services, the hospital and its staff have won numerous state and national awards for quality in both customer service and clinical performance. The Cary family includes approximately 540 employees, more than 60 active medical staff providers, 100 courtesy and consulting physicians, and 75 volunteers. In collaboration with Pines Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center, Cary Medical Center services include: general surgery, pediatrics, 24-hour emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, physical and occupational therapy, one day surgery, family practice, sports medicine, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, internal medicine, urology, radiology, pathology, and a wide variety of specialty clinics. The collaborative relationship that has developed between Cary and Pines has been called a model for the nation. The hospital has made major investments in technology and was one of the first rural hospitals in the nation to develop bed-side medication barcoding, closed loop medication dispensing, and the hospital was a key player in the development of HealthInfoNet (a statewide health information system). The hospital also has available the latest diagnostic technology including multi-slice CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Advanced Ultra-Sound, Stereo Tactic Biopsy, and highly automated Medical Laboratory. Cary Medical Center has all private patient rooms and completed a million dollar renovation to its acute care unit in 2017. Thanks to nearly $1 million dollars raised by our generous communities, the hospital opened the Women`s Imaging Center (2014) and Jefferson Cary Cancer Center (2015) to provide comprehensive cancer care and screening options closer to home. Cary Medical Center has also developed a unique and powerful relationship with Aroostook County Veterans, the Maine VA Health System and Maine Veterans Homes. Cary was the first hospital in the nation to establish a Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic located in a private rural hospital. Additionally, on the hospital`s campus is a 40-bed long-term care facility and a 30-bed residential care facility operated by the Maine Veterans Home.
