Thomas Schoenig is new regional chief information officer. With more than 20 years in health-care information systems leadership, Schoenig joined the organization after having served as chief information officer for a community hospital in Casper, Wyo.
Schoenig was born in Chicago and grew up in the McHenry area. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Monmouth College. He discovered computer systems while in college, working to interface a desktop computer with a chemistry lab instrument. At the time, he said, desktop computing was still in its infancy.
Schoenig belongs to the American College of Healthcare Executives and also has membership with the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. He and his wife Abbey have two daughters.
