The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency in preventing disease, injury and disability; promoting health and well-being; and preparing for and responding to disasters from a health perspective. In 2011, the General Assembly restored DPH to its own state agency after more than 30 years of consolidation with other departments. The Ohio Health Information Partnership is a nonprofit entity whose mission is to assist physicians and other providers with the adoption and implement of health information technology (HIT) throughout Ohio. The Partnership created CliniSync - Ohio`s statewide health information exchange - to electronically connect hospitals, physicians and others who care for patients through a secure network. Currently, 150 hospitals are contracted with 131 live on the network, connecting thousands of physicians, clinicians, long-term and post-acute care facilities, behavioral health, laboratories, pharmacists and others involved in patient care.
