Stephen Trilling, also known as Steve, is the founder of Symantec Research Labs. Mr. Trilling serves as a Senior Vice President of Symantec Corporation. He served as the Chief Technology Officer of Symantec Corporation until December 4, 2013 and was responsible for developing the overall technology vision for Symantec, driving cross-company engineering initiatives and collaboration, and overseeing Symantec’s shared engineering organizations. Mr. Trilling served as senior vice president of Symantec’s Security Technology and Response (STAR) division. Under his leadership, Symantec’s security products consistently achieved top protection ratings in independent reviews, winning such awards as the AV-Comparatives Product of the Year Award and the Wall Street Journal’s Technology Innovation Award. Mr. Trilling also oversaw the development by the STAR team of Symantec’s award-winning Insight technology. Prior to his role leading STAR, Mr. Trilling served as vice president of Symantec Research Labs, its advanced research division. Mr. Trilling has represented Symantec publicly on numerous national television and radio programs, including Good Morning America, The Today Show, and 60 Minutes. He has published a number of papers on security-related issues and has also testified before the United States Congress. He is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. Mr. Trilling holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Yale University and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
