World Food Programme

The World Food Programme was created in 1961, as an experiment to provide food aid through the UN system. In 1965, WFP became a fully-fledged UN programme, to last for as long as multilateral food aid is found feasible and desirable. Today, WFP is the worlds largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP assists 80 million people in around 80 countries each year, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. On any given day, WFP has 5,000 trucks, 20 ships and 70 planes on the move, delivering food and other assistance to those in most need. In emergencies, WFP is often first on the scene, providing food assistance to the victims of war, civil conflict, drought, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, crop failures and natural disasters. When the emergency subsides, WFP helps communities rebuild shattered lives and livelihoods. We also work to strengthen the resilience of people and communities affected by protracted crises by applying a development lens in our humanitarian response.

For more than 45 years, Acts Retirement-Life Communities has met the retirement lifestyle and healthcare needs of older adults living in our communities. Our company began in 1971 with the vision of a church pastor and his congregation whose goal was to create an environment that offered seniors a rewarding lifestyle and high quality healthcare if ever needed. Today, Acts is the largest not-for-profit owner, operator and developer of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in the United States. Our 23 communities currently serve approximately 9,700 residents in nine states. Our vision for Acts is to have The Acts Culture of Loving-Kindness be the basic fiber of our daily practice to meet the needs of those we serve. As we continue to grow, we are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team who help to carry out our mission of serving older adults. We have been able to provide an unparalleled quality of life for our residents by recruiting and hiring great people who understand our vision and strive to be a part of it. We are convinced that the secret to our success is our employees who work as a team each day to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents. It is for this reason that we provide a working environment based on fair employment practices, competitive pay and benefits, career opportunities and other programs designed to help our employees achieve their professional goals.
