Established in 1909, the Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA) is a cooperative of 110 dairy farming families guided by century-old values of quality, cooperation, integrity, stewardship and responsiveness. Since then, the farmer-owners of Tillamook have been committed to providing families with the most consistent, best tasting, highest quality dairy products made in the most natural way possible.
RUNA was founded in 2009, days after we graduated from college. But our story begins several years earlier, when Tyler was living with the Kichwa people in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It was then he was introduced to guayusa – a naturally caffeinated tree leaf brewed like tea, consumed early in the morning to help interpret dreams and late at night to provide energy and clarity while hunting in the jungle. He loved the earthy flavor, smooth taste, and energy boost he got from the leaf. Living and working in Latin and South America, we both saw how unsustainable activities like logging were enticing ways for people living in the rainforest to pay for education and medicine. We also saw how development projects implemented by NGOs often floundered because they lacked buy-in from local stakeholders.
Our commitment to developing the best drive-thru espresso led us to franchising The Human Bean`s brand and system in 2002. We are proud to announce that The Human Bean has expanded to 95+ locations in eleven states, most of those being franchised locations and 13 being corporate locations. We expect to continue this growth through approved franchisees that share the same determination and commitment to our goals for this exceptional brand. With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew and soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and offering the highest quality ingredients. Moving forward, the brand will stay true to the successful operations on which The Human Bean was founded.
