The Department of National Defence (DND) is a Canadian government department responsible for defending Canada`s interests and values at home and abroad, as well as contributing to international peace and security. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks and federal savings associations. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the OCC has four district offices plus an office in London to supervise the international activities of national banks. The OCC`s nationwide staff of bank examiners conducts on-site reviews of national banks and federal savings associations (or federal thrifts) and provides sustained supervision of these institutions` operations.
