About the Person

Sonny Hashmi as the Deputy CIO serves as the Chief Technology Officer for the GSA. Sonny is responsible for leveraging emerging technologies to improve GSA operations, drive IT modernization, and lead enterprise initiatives. Sonny possesses extensive IT management experience in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the U.S. General Services Administration, Sonny was the Deputy CIO for the District of Columbia Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Sonny championed and successfully delivered many initiatives including large system modernization projects, implementation of a District-wide business intelligence platform for agency financial management, and business process automation. Sonny has also worked for several private sector organizations leading large scale projects for federal, state and local government agencies. Sonny earned a Master's Degree in engineering from Purdue University as well as a Master certificate in Innovation Management from the University of Maryland.
