Harford County Government serves the 250,000 residents of Harford County in Maryland with an executive-council form of government. Charter government was established in 1972 with an elected County Executive and seven-member Council, all elected to four-year terms.
Sherrie Johnson is the Public Information Officer for Harford County Government. She is the spokesperson for Harford County Executive David R. Craig and 12 county departments. Ms. Johnson is a Baltimore, Maryland based former Television Reporter/Anchor and Emmy award winning Journalist. Her work has covered various topics including education, crime and social networking. Her career has carried her to five markets including: Local and National TV affiliates. Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, her father’s military career took her around the world at an early age exposing her to diverse cultures and experiences. Ms. Johnson is the President and CEO of SAJ Media LLC. It is a Communications Company specializing in Media Training, Voiceovers, Broadcast Seminars, Motivational Speaking and Media Consulting. Ms. Johnson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications with a Minor in German. She has interviewed top news makers including: President Barack Obama, Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice, Monique, Oprah and Susan Taylor. On the speaking circuit, Ms. Johnson has spoke at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Think Big Speaker Series (Baltimore High School for inner city youth), Black Girls Ignite Africa (motivational speaker for young women), Mercy High School (all girl high school), It Takes A Village Scholarship and Awards Gala and the Annual Martin Luther King Jr Celebration at Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pa. In addition, she has been the Emcee and host for more events than she can count in the community. She has also served on panels including Women in Film educating audiences on tv news. She’s also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and she is on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter.
