Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is a private non-profit organization that serves people with intellectual / developmental disabilities and related special needs from birth through senior-age. The phrase "intellectual / developmental disabilities and related special needs" refers to mental retardation, autism, head & spinal cord injury (HASCI) and related lifelong disabilities. People with disabilities are a vital part of our community and we strive to provide them with the training and skills necessary for their personal success in all areas of their lives. We believe that all persons have the right to choose where and how they learn, live, work, play, and socialize. DCDSNB provides choices to enhance the lives of the special people we serve.

The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) is an Independent Federal Agency responsible for administering the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). The FRTIB helps Federal employees and members of the Uniformed Services retire with dignity by providing benefits similar to private sector 401(k) plans. The TSP is widely considered to be one of the best retirement plans in the world and a model for defined contribution plans. The FRTIB`s mission is to administer the TSP solely in the interest of its participants and beneficiaries. The TSP is one of the world`s largest defined contribution plans, managing over $480 billion for more than 5 million participants located in every time zone around the world. The history of Arkansas began millennia ago when humans first crossed into North America. Many tribes used Arkansas as their hunting lands but the main tribe was the Quapaw who settled in Arkansas River delta upon moving south from Illinois. Early French explorers gave the territory its name, a corruption of Akansea, which is a phonetic spelling of the Illinois word for the Quapaw.[1] This phonetic heritage explains why "Arkansas" is pronounced so differently than "Kansas" even though they share the same spelling.[2] What began as a rough wilderness inhabited by trappers and hunters became incorporated into the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and became Arkansas Territory in 1819. Upon gaining statehood in 1836, Arkansas had begun to prosper under a plantation economy that was heavily reliant on slave labor. After the Civil War Arkansas was a poor rural state based on cotton. Prosperity returned in the 1940s. The state became famous for its political leadership, including President Bill Clinton (Governor, 1979−81 and 1983−92), and as the base for the Walmart corporation.
