Sourcewell is a self-supporting government organization, partnering with education, government, and nonprofits to boost student and community success. We provide training and shared services to our central-Minnesota members. Throughout North America, we offer a cooperative purchasing program with over 200 awarded vendors on contract. On behalf of our 50,000 members, Sourcewell conducts competitive solicitations, awarding to the most responsive and responsible vendors at the manufacturer level. Members can purchase off these contracts through their local dealers, streamlining the procurement process. Sourcewell is driven by service and the ability to strategically reinvest in member communities. Our Mission: To build valued relationships, deliver innovative solutions with integrity, and exceed the expectations of our members. Lovell Kimball, the founder of Marseilles, arrived in the area along the Illinois River known as Grand Rapids in 1833. Kimball was aware that the Illinois-Michigan Canal Bill had passed and the canal would eventually reach the rapids, so he hired a surveyor to layout the town. Kimball called the town Marseilles, under the impression that Marseilles, France was an industrial center which he hoped to attain in Illinois. Marseilles was officially platted on June 3,1835. The plat was revised twice for railroad and canal right-of-ways. In 1849, Marseilles was home to the first coal mine opening. The original Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Depot in Marseilles was constructed in 1867. The depot was a locally significant transportation hub which facilitated the shipment of people and goods to and from Marseilles along the Rock Island and LaSalle Line, which became the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. The small wooden station was replaced in 1917 after citizens in the city won a 40-year battle with the railroad and the U.S. Circuit Court ordered a new station be built. Of all the US railroads that operated west of Chicago, the Rock Island Line built the finest looking stations. Marseilles`s station is an example of one of the best and was in operation until 1974. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1995. Today, it is home to a health care center.

Shelter is a basic human need – essential for accomplishing almost everything we need and want to do. From getting a job and raising a family to cooking dinner and celebrating a birthday. Yet for many rural Nevadans safe, affordable shelter is out of reach. In 1973, the Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) was created to address this need. NRHA was originally created as a state agency in 1973 and operated under the Department of Business and Industry as a Public Housing Authority. In 1995, NRHA was separated from State government by new legislation and became a quasi-governmental unit with its own five-member governing board appointed by the Nevada League of Cities and Nevada Association of Counties. In 2005, legislation AB372 clarified our jurisdiction and programs and established that our organization is not subject to the state budgetary process enabling us to be more diverse and innovative in our services. Working with a consortium of public, private, and social partners, NRHA provides affordable housing and economic development solutions for rural Nevada. We believe when more Nevadans are able to purchase a home of their own or can find affordable rental units, we all benefit through stronger more stable and economically vital communities. In 2006, NRHA launched the Home At Last™ home financing program to expand homeownership opportunities in the rural parts of the state. In 2009 NRHA launched our real estate division and become more active in helping rural cities and counties address a broader scope of economic development challenges.
