About the Person

S. Scott Smith has been an Executive Vice President of Technology Development & Satellite Operations at Iridium Communications Inc. since April 2010. Mr. Smith served as an Executive Vice President of Iridium NEXT at Iridium Communications Inc. since April 2010 and served as its Executive Vice President of Satellite Development & OperationS. Previously, from 2005 to April 2010, Mr. Smith served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of DigitalGlobe, Inc., or DigitalGlobe. Prior to DigitalGlobe, from 1995 to January 2006, Mr. Smith served as an Executive Vice President of sales, engineering and operations of Space Imaging Inc. Mr. Smith was a founder of Space Imaging Inc. Mr. Smith held various engineering and management positions for Lockheed Missiles & Space Company from 1990 to 1994. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University.
