About the Person

As CIO, Robert Howard will provide vision and leadership for university-wide information technology services (ITS), including systems for teaching, research and administration. He will also give strategic direction and support as the university's ITS infrastructure is developed to meet wide-ranging institutional needs. Howard offers more than fifteen years of progressive leadership for information technology organizations. He previously served as Assistant Vice President for Academic and Institutional Technology Support at Miami University of Ohio, where he had a proven track record of transforming organizations from lagging to leading in technologies and ITS methods, as well as implementing budget-saving ITS practices. Before that, he served as Director of IT Partnerships at the University of Georgia. Howard, a Savannah native, received a bachelor’s degree in cell biology and microbiology from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in executive leadership and organizational change from Northern Kentucky University. Howard is also a member of EDUCAUSE, IT Service Management Forum USA and the American Society for Quality.
