About the Person

Robert B. Carter is co-chief executive officer and chief information officer of FedEx Corporate Services. Carter is responsible for setting the technology direction of the FedEx applications, infrastructure, networks and data centers that provide around-the-clock and around-the-globe support for FedEx product offerings. He is a member of the five-person executive committee, which plans and executes the corporation’s strategic business activities.    Carter joined FedEx in 1993 and has more than 30 years of systems development and implementation experience.   Carter was born in Taiwan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer and information science from the University of Florida and his master’s degree from the University of South Florida.  Recently named as part of FORTUNE magazine’s Executive Dream Team, Carter was also ranked 18th on Fast Company magazine’s “100 Most Creative People in Business” 2010 list. He received Information Week magazine’s Chief of the Year Award in 2000, 2001 and 2005. He is also a seven-time recipient of CIO magazine’s 100 Award and was a charter inductee into the publication’s CIO Hall of Fame.  Carter is a member of the Saks Incorporated and First Horizon National Corporation Boards of Directors.
