The Walt Disney Company bought LucasFilm in 2012. LucasFilm was founded by filmmaker George Lucas in 1971 in San Rafael, CA.

 

About the Person

Rob Bredow serves as Head of ILMxLAB and VP of New Media at Lucasfilm. He is a strategic and visionary leader who ensures that the technology and production approaches to new media opportunities empower storytellers and enable the delivery of groundbreaking creative experiences. Previously, Bredow was CTO & VFX Supervisor at Sony Pictures Imageworks, where he led efforts to streamline the production pipeline for both CG Animation, Live-Action Visual Effects, Color Timing, Post-Production, and Post Sound to make processes much easier, resulting in better experiences for creative talent. Rob also served as Visual Effects Supervisor on both Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and the Academy Award®-nominated Surf’s Up, where he delivered hours of groundbreaking shots for both films. Significant innovations included a real-time live-action camera for the animated films and new rendering techniques that improved artist efficiency and the look of the films.
