Newton Center, MA-based Ambient Corporation has announced the Resignation of Ram Rao as Chief Technology Officer
Founded in 1996, we have been focused on the collaborative development of smart grid technology and communication solutions since 2000. We believe effective and efficient smart grid technology communications are at the heart of revolutionizing the grid and will transform it into an efficient energy service platform. The smart grid will address the current shortcomings of our aging grid and deliver significant benefits to utilities and energy consumers, including reduced costs, increased power quality and reliability, accommodation of renewable energy technologies, consumer empowerment over energy consumption and a universal platform for continued integration of new technologies. Ambient is headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts with a satellite office in Europe.
Ram Rao served as Chief Technical Officer of Ambient Corporation from July 2006 to June 26, 2013 and served as its Senior Vice President from October 2010 to June 26, 2013. Mr. Rao served as the Chief Network Architect of Ambient Corporation from September 2000 to July 2006. He has experience in various senior management positions within the technology industry. Prior to Ambient, Mr. Rao was the Chief Information Officer at Mullen, Inc. a large advertising agency based in New England. From November 1995 through February 2000, he was the President and Co-Founder of Gaialinks, Inc. a company engaged in the development of network management software tools that also provided network analysis for large heterogeneous, multi-vendor, multi-protocol networks and systems. Mr. Rao represents Ambient on the IEEE PHY/MAC Working Group, formed to develop standard(s) for a common standard for BPL equipment to coexist and/or interoperate. He is also the Chairman of the Universal Powerline Association's (UPA) Access Working Group and the Co-Chairman of the United Power Line Council's (UPLC) Technical Action Committee. Mr. Rao has also presented at a variety of PLC industry events and has published articles on Power Line Communications. Mr. Rao also was affiliated with Boston University's Office of Information Technology where he held a variety of positions including, Associate Director, Network Systems, and Network Systems Manager. Mr. Rao received a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering (Cum Laude) from Boston University, College of Engineering, in 1988.
