Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health traces its roots to public health activism at the beginning of the last century, a time of energetic social reform. The School began as the Harvard-MIT School of Health Officers, founded in 1913 as the first professional training program of public health in America. The foundation also acquires real estate for the expansion of the university`s main campus in West Lafayette as well as its regional campuses and agricultural centers. In addition, the foundation`s Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) operates one of the most comprehensive technology transfer programs among leading research universities in the United States. Services provided by this office support the economic development initiatives of Purdue University and benefit the university`s academic activities.
