Pierre Combemale studied in France and at King’s College in the U.K., where he obtained an M.S. in digital electronics. He began his career interning at a nuclear power station in South Africa and then as a consultant for Honeywell-Bull in France. He joined Vesuvius when he moved to the U.S. and has held various management positions since. As the CIO of Vesuvius, Combemale has been heavily involved in due diligence and integration of national and international acquisitions resulting in the company sales increase from $600M to approximately $3B in a little more than 10 years. Pierre and his team managed the smooth transition of IT services for non-core business divestitures and integrated a number of green field manufacturing facilities in emerging countries, including India, China and Brazil, among others. In order to support the truly global organization, he developed an IT service center in China to complement the American and European teams. Recently, he led the IT side of a corporate demerger that resulted in Vesuvius trading as a stand-alone company on the London Stock Exchange.
