The Multistate Tax Commission is an intergovernmental state tax agency working on behalf of states and taxpayers to facilitate the equitable and efficient administration of state tax laws that apply to multistate and multinational enterprises. Created by the Multistate Tax Compact, the Commission is charged by this law with: • Facilitating the proper determination of State and local tax liability of multistate taxpayers, including the equitable apportionment of tax bases and settlement of apportionment disputes; • Promoting uniformity or compatibility in significant components of tax systems; • Facilitating taxpayer convenience and compliance in the filing of tax returns and in other phases of tax administration; • Avoiding duplicative taxation. The commission was created in 1967 as an effort by states to protect their tax authority in the face of previous proposals to transfer the writing of key features of state tax laws from the state legislature. For that reason, the Commission has been a voice for preserving the authority of states to determine their own tax policy within the limits of the U.S. Constitution.
Franklin County was separated from St. Louis County and established in 1818, and is named after founding father, Benjamin Franklin. The county seat was originally in the village of Newport, but was permanently moved to the City of Union in 1825. The Robertsville State Park and Meramec State Park, among many private recreational businesses, provide opportunities to camp, fish, and float along the scenic Meramec River. Communities in Franklin County also offer a great deal of tourist possibilities for events such as fairs, festivals, and entertainment.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) leads the state of Indiana`s economic development efforts, helping businesses launch, grow and locate in the state. Governed by a board chaired by Governor Eric J. Holcomb, the IEDC manages many initiatives, including performance-based tax credits, workforce training grants, innovation and entrepreneurship resources, public infrastructure assistance, and talent attraction and retention efforts.
The North Carolina Industrial Commission is an agency of the State of North Carolina created by the General Assembly in 1929 to administer the North Carolina Workers Compensation Act. In 1949, the Industrial Commission was also given authority by the General Assembly to administer the Tort Claims Act. Additionally, the Industrial Commission is charged with administering the Law Enforcement Officers, Firemens, Rescue Squad Workers and Civil Air Patrol Members Death Benefits Act, the Childhood Vaccine-Related Injury Compensation Program and Compensation to Persons Erroneously Convicted of Felonies.
