Employee Relations, Staffing & Performance Management
• Manages complex and difficult HR Projects cross-functionally within the organization
• Consults with management and partners, providing HR guidance when appropriate
• Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the COO to develop solutions, programs and policies
• Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
• Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management and partners (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
• Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
• Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
• Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers
• Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. Conducts weekly meetings with respective internal departments.
• Builds a strong business relationship with our partners.
• Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
• Participates in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs.
• Follows-up to ensure training objectives are met.
Leadership
• Knowledge Expert: Be present among MESD staff and in the community as a valuable Human Resources strategic and technical consultant.
• Research & Development: Continually source and implement best practices and make recommendations to COO.
• Remain up-to-date on nonprofit best practices and state and federal nonprofit requirements.
Education
Bachelor`s degree in business administration or human resources, or equivalent business experience
Experience
• Minimum of 4 to 7 years of professional experience in HR, with at least 3 in a generalist role that required change management, organizational effectiveness/development, policy development and administration, recruitment/selection, compensation, employment law, positive employee relations, performance management, HRIS and/or employee and management training/development.
• Prior experience in nonprofit setting preferred; participation on a nonprofit Board or Committee a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
• Must be comfortable presenting for large groups including influential stakeholders
• Experience in overseeing the rapid growth of an organization
• Demonstrated client service experience
• Experience with working in a matrix organization
• Ability to assess and prioritize work to meet the needs of the customer
