Originally founded in 1977 as Centro Las Americas by Puerto Ricans to serve Puerto Ricans, CENTRO’s mission and the community it serves has evolved. As the first nationally registered tech apprenticeship program, Apprenti provides a proven, reliable pipeline for connecting underrepresented groups including people of color, women, veterans, and people with disabilities to the necessary training and hands-on skills needed to be successful in the tech industry. Apprenti is a program of the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) Workforce Institute. The WTIA Workforce Institute is a 501c3 organization created to address tech industry`s workforce and diversity needs.
