About the Company

About the Person

Michael R. Murphy joined WellSpan Health as Chief Technology Officer in November 2010. Prior to joining WelISpan, Mick served as Chief Technology Officer of the Sisters of Mercy Health System. Under Mick’s guidance, Mercy successfully consolidated the technical services functions of eight independent operating entities into a centralized team. Mick introduced service oriented architecture to Mercy. Mercy leveraged this technology to improve patient safety, clinical quality and revenue efficiency. In addition, Mick led the development of MyMercy, a complete patient portal that included patient to physician communications, self- service scheduling, and viewing of lab and other test results. Prior to joining Mercy, Mick led the Enterprise Messaging and Tools and Architecture teams at Southwest Airlines. He also contributed to the development of SWABIZ, the Southwest Airlines Web site for business travel and MySouthwest, the personalized site for traveling with Southwest Airlines. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In his free time, he enjoys running, playing golf and spending time with his family.
