MedCentral Health System, a non-profit organization, was created January 1, 1996. With about 2,550 employees, we are the largest employer in the six-county area we serve. Our active medical staff numbers over 200 - 78 percent of whom are board certified - representing a complete range of primary care and specialty practices. We are the largest medical provider between Cleveland and Columbus, serving primarily Richland, Crawford, Ashland, Morrow, Huron and Knox counties. We are comprised of two general, acute care hospitals: Mansfield and Shelby, with a combined total of 351 beds and 42 bassinets. The largest, Mansfield Hospital with 326 beds, offers a Level II Trauma Center and a Level II Perinatal Department. We also feature complete cardiac care at MedCentral HeartCare, comprehensive neurological services, MedCentral Rapid Response walk-in medical center, MedCentral WorkAbleTM industrial health and safety services, MedCentral Home Care & Hospice, laboratory sites at both hospitals, Rapid Response and three satellites, and convenient diagnostic imaging services at both hospitals as well as a free-standing Express Imaging Center.
Michael Mistretta is Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Medcentral Health System in Mansfield, OH. Mr. Mistretta has extensive experience in the implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) having worked with most major vendors on the market today. His interests and experience includes creating solutions to increase productivity and reduce expenses through automation and system integration. He has worked extensively with multiple vendors in the healthcare space to develop solutions integrating various aspects of clinical care including biomedical device integration, point-of care devices, and incorporating discrete data feeds for analytical decision making. He has guided MedCentral to become a National Showcase account for Healthcare technology and model organization in the automated capture clinical quality measures; including being recognized as "Most Wired" by Hospital and Health Networks magazine the past 5 years as well as HeathImaging and IT's "Top 25 Most Connected Facilities" 2 of the last 3 years. MedCentral Health System is one of the first healthcare providers in the country to achieve “Meaningful Use” in the country; with 2 inpatient facilities already having attested (1 community hospital, 1 critical access hospital) and received payment. Additionally, Mr. Mistretta is the principal architect of MedCentral's regional HIE, MedCentral Connect, currently in use by nearly 50 nursing homes and numerous physician practices to exchange information. In previous positions Mr. Mistretta preformed software development, consulting, and datacenter management services for a variety of customers on both the provider and payer sides of healthcare. Mr. Mistretta has been invited to sit in an advisory capacity by multiple healthcare companies and has spoken extensively on the impact of the current HITECH act and ARRA legislation. He currently also works with community physicians as the county representative for the Regional Extension Program assisting their efforts to achieve meaningful use in their practices.
