About the Company

GeoSpatial Innovations delivers innovative mobile field data solutions to major investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities throughout North America. Since 2001, our software and advanced GPS mobile technologies have enabled utilities to shed manual, inefficient data collection processes and optimize the speed, accuracy and cost of gathering and analyzing critical in-the-field data. GSI AssetManager, our flagship software for utilities, supports business processes for facility design, inventory & inspection, storm damage and vegetation management.

 

About the Person

Michael Hamsa is the Chief Technology Officer at GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. (GSI) ; an independent software firm catering to electric utility, natural gas utility and Department of Defense customers. Michael has been leading the software development teams at GSI since April of 2001 and has built the company’s software product portfolio up to include software modules for many different business processes in the utility and military verticals. Michael has 20 years of experience working with and developing on many different GIS software platforms, including GE Smallworld CST, ESRI ArcGIS and Enghouse Cablecad and GeoNet. During this time he has also been involved in leading and developing independent software solutions using a wide range of software and hardware technologies. In 2002 Michael and his wife Julie purchased half of GSI. During their time as part of the ownership team, GSI grew from a company with 2 employees into a thriving organization with employees in Austin, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver and Minneapolis. Their involvement was instrumental in gaining many large electric, natural gas and DoD customers in over 28 states and 2 Canadian Provinces. Late in 2011, Michael and Julie sold their shares back to GSI in a stock redemption deal that was part of a larger recapitalization initiative taken on by the company. Michael remains with GSI as VP of Technology heavily involved with the DoD and Military software development projects and products. Michael is the inventor of patented software technology, an accomplished mountain biker placing 7th overall in the 1995 Texas Fall Cup Series and 11th overall in the 1997 Texas Championship Series, as well as an Eagle Scout. He has presented papers at many different trade shows on various software and hardware technologies and received a speaker award at the 2001 GITA annual conference. Michael lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Julie and 3 children, Emily, Matthew and Amanda.
