Visa is a global payments technology company that connects consumers, businesses, financial institutions and governments in more than 200 countries and territories to fast, secure and reliable digital currency. Underpinning digital currency is one of the world`s most advanced processing networks—VisaNet—that is capable of handling more than 10,000 transactions a second, with fraud protection for consumers and guaranteed payment for merchants. Visa is not a bank, and does not issue cards, extend credit or set rates and fees for consumers. Visa`s innovations, however, enable its financial institution customers to offer consumers more choices: pay now with debit, ahead of time with prepaid or later with credit products.
Michael Dreyer is the Chief Information Officer of Visa Inc. and is responsible for all systems, technology and processing platforms, networks and development required to support the business demands of the company. Read Less Previously, Dreyer was CIO of Inovant, a subsidiary of Visa Inc. He oversaw the development and management of Visa’s global systems technology. Named to the position in July 2005, Dreyer oversaw application planning, architecture and development in four core areas: transaction services, access and delivery, information services, and program management office/open systems. Prior to becoming CIO of Inovant, Dreyer served as Visa USA`s senior vice president of processing and emerging products, developing products and services to provide Visa with competitive differentiation in the marketplace. Previous to that position, as senior vice president of commercial solutions for Visa USA, Dreyer oversaw product development and management for large corporate, middle market, public sector, small business, business-to-business, and e-commerce segments. Before joining Visa in 1998, Dreyer was vice president of the electronic commerce center of excellence for American Express` travel-related services. While there, he coordinated all smart card and Internet activity for several business units. Additionally, Dreyer has held senior positions at Prime Financial, Inc., Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Downey Savings, Bank of America and the Fairmont Hotel Management Company. Dreyer received an MBA and a BA in psychology from Washington State University. He is a member of the HP Financial Services Industries Board of Advisors, Oracle President`s Council, and UC Berkeley Fisher CIO Leadership Program Advisory Board. Dreyer was named Best CIO–Public Company for the 2012 inaugural Bay Area CIO Awards.
