Mark Potter is senior vice president and general manager of HP’s $13+ billion Industry-standard Servers and Software (ISS) business that includes the world’s #1 server brand, HP ProLiant, the world’s #1 bladed infrastructure, HP BladeSystem, and the award-winning CloudSystem solution. In this role, he is responsible for serving customers of all sizes around the globe. With an HP ProLiant shipping every 11 seconds and over 30 million ProLiant servers shipped since 1989, ISS systems power the web and nearly every aspect of daily life, from finance and entertainment to healthcare and education. Previously, Potter served as senior vice president and general manager of HP’s Infrastructure Software and Blades business. Under his leadership, the HP blade server business expanded from about $400 million in 2004 to over $3 billion in 2010 and growing share by 19% points to 54% according to IDC. During this time, Potter was responsible for the introductions of Insight Control management software and Virtual Connect – a virtual networking innovation that continues to differentiate HP BladeSystem today. Potter is the recipient of eight engineering patents. He has held numerous senior business and R&D management positions since joining Compaq Computer, now a part of HP, in January 1989. Before HP, Potter served in leadership and management roles in the aerospace industry. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Texas A&M University.
